Member Education and Engagement ASDS CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF INNOVATION
2020 marked the Society’s 50th anniversary, and throughout the year, ASDS honored its history and celebrated its bright future: • A Commemorative Program was mailed to every ASDS member and made available digitally at asds.net/50 .
• Each issue of Currents offered a feature article surrounding the anniversary with founder interviews, education highlights and pioneering efforts.
Drs. MathewAvramandMarc Brown toast to the Society's 50thanniversary during the celebration event.
• A Celebration Box was sent to early ASDS Virtual Annual Meeting registrants, complete with a cup to toast ASDS during the virtual 50th Celebration, co-hosted by Drs. Brown and Avram. The event began with a brief summary of ASDS successes over the years, from its humble beginnings in 1970, founding of the journal in 1975 and the planting of its educational roots with regional courses, annual meetings and now on-demand learning. After a clip from the “ASDS Through the Decades” video, Dr. Brown discussed the future of ASDS and introduced his successor, Dr. Avram. • A n ASDS Through the Decades video featured highlights from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s and ‘10s.
